[an indeterminate period of time ago (mainly because i am too damn lazy to look it up) your characters may have found themselves in the strangest of places - the minds of other people. There, they could learn all sorts of interesting things about their fellow detainees, such as their horrible love for disco ( Read more... )

[You're in a house! A manor, to be precise, with the expensive and fancy furniture that would go with that name. It's all very gothic, really. There aren't enough windows to light up the rooms on their own, so there are lanterns along the walls, which splutter and flare every so often. There's definitely an ambience of age, of history and of it being really fucking confusing.

You are in the sitting room. The couches are not as comfortable as they should be, and there are people wandering around doing their business and not paying you any attention. Assholes. There's a bookcase to the far left, a desk with paper on it and a door. What do you do?]

[it's a teenaged boy's room! There's a bookcase full of books, a desk with musical score on it, a sword rack with a sword ... its a little bit messy but not unusually so.]

[so many trashy fantasy novels about knights saving princesses it's not funny. except how it is. There's a set of books down the bottom with no titles.]

["I collapsed at school today. I didn't think I was that ill at first, but I felt very strange through history. The last thing I remember was being called on to answer a question and then I was in the infirmary. The physician said I was delirious, talking about nursery rhymes and asking for my father. I don't remember any of this. Strange."

The entry is written in the same handwriting as the agitated note from earlier, only far neater.]

[Another entry, on a different day.

"This headache is really starting to annoy me. I'm not the kind of person who gets headaches, especially ones like this! This is terribly inconvenient; I have assignments to hand in and I can't hand them in late because of something as pathetic as a headache. Father's said that if I keep my grades up that we'll be allowed back to Sablier to visit the orphanage, and it's not fair if I fail him now."]

["I think I'm going mad. I keep seeing things out of the corner of my eye and I feel strange again, like something's pulling under my skin I think I'll go to bed early tonight."

The next entry is two days later.

"I didn't think I was such a weak person, to be so incapacitated by a cold. I should be all right for school tomorrow."]

[oh yes. There's one that sounds utterly horrified, detailing a horrific murder of three people. It's been scribbled out but there's enough to be read.

"I don't even remember writing that. I must have written it in my sleep. It's not surprising that my dreams are strange, with that man here whispering poison into my mother's ear. Everything would be better if he wasn't here. She'd be sane if he wasn't here. Vanessa's at her wit's end and I hate him for scaring her. If only father would believe me, then we could send him far away from here."]

[It's a very spartan room ... except for the books all piled on the bed. It looks like someone sleeps on the floor instead.]
