[an indeterminate period of time ago (mainly because i am too damn lazy to look it up) your characters may have found themselves in the strangest of places - the minds of other people. There, they could learn all sorts of interesting things about their fellow detainees, such as their horrible love for disco ( Read more... )

[You're in a vast, endless ocean. Hopefully you can swim, because there isn't a boat just yet. Only blue water and hot sun, and ghost-like voices. It's not particularly stable, and if you sink under the water at all, you might get a glimpse of somewhere else, or hear something more distinct - a young woman screaming in pain, a trail of blood in a forest, a television studio with an indistinct audience, or a lavish bedroom with no doors. Better to keep treading water...]

((There might be violence, and there almost definitely will be references to sex, consensual and not.))

[Yup. There might be note with a name, a time and place on it as well, thrown on the floor.

If you go into the next room, you'll realize it's just an apartment - expensive, but nothing special. The TV is on, and showing mostly a lot of ads for beauty treatments. A lot of them are pretty outrageous - dying your hair or skin, implanting jewels. ...And then it goes back to the program, an exclusive intimate interview with Victor Finnick Odair. There's a collective sigh of love from the audience.]

[Okay--now this makes some sense]

*picks up the note while checking out the local programming*

[It's a pretty brainless interview and he's pandering to the audience big time, throwing off remarks about never knowing who he might take out tonight, wink wink. The interviewer wants to talk about the Games, about the prospects and what they can expect from District Four's tributes this year, how he feels about Mentoring - but he brushes that off as much as possible with more flirting.]

[Yeah, that's very familiar]

[The name won't ring any bells, it's just some anonymous rich citizen.

But there are more notes, now, and on the TV are clips of Finnick with various people - most are things that might actually turn up on the news, sightings at restaurants or clubs. A few times, though, the screen will flicker and... Well, they're basically sex tapes.]

[Not the least bit surprised, but that is squicky]

[There is one, but if you change the channel you'll mostly get political stuff - a lot of it coincidentally featuring an older man with a white rose in his lapel.]

*clicks the remote and scans the political news of the day*

[Ah, and who is that guy?]

[The broadcast is calling him President Snow, and boy is he a creeper.

The notes also have more to say now, if you look back down - each one has a detail, a story, a secret. The atmosphere in here is getting more oppressive.]

[The head honcho is a creeper who endorses teenagers killing each other off--big surprise there.]

*looks at the notes and then around the room*

[Secrets and potentially blackmail . . .]

[None of it is very pleasant. But wait, there are footsteps outside the door...]

*steps right up to the side of the door--still holding the remote control*

[I hope I don't have to use the pointy thing . . .]

[Finnick pushes the door open, already tense, and freezes when he sees her, automatically on the defense. He looks a little younger but not too much. He is, however, aside from last night's outfit, as buffed and perfect as Capitol treatments can make him, even more attractive than usual.]

You're not supposed to be here.

Pretend I'm not here then. And close the door, you'll draw attention--more attention, I mean.

There's always attention. He knows everything that happens here.
