What's a jack-o-lantern?

Huh? Well, it's what you get when you carve holes out of a pumpkin to make a face in it, then you put a candle or a light bulb inside to light it up at night.

This is some seasonal decoration?

Yep! It's for Halloween. Um, do you know about Halloween?

It's a holiday where you dress up in a costume and go door-to-door taking candy from strangers. It's pretty awesome!

... That sounds very foolish. Why do you need to dress up to request candy? No responsible person would take something from someone they don't know either. The whole thing sounds like a bad idea.

Dude, don't ask me why. It's just tradition! And you just have to make sure you check all your candy for razor blades and hypodermic needles before you eat it, that's all.

I know you're lying. If you really believe those were in them, you wouldn't participate.

Yeah, you got me there. That's just an urban legend spread by suburban moms.
