[Some dude is carting off (unused) equipment away from the hospital and into the underground tunnels.

There is absolutely nothing suspicious about this.

WHAT DO YOU DO?]

I hope you asked someone at the hospital first.

I left a note and I'm not taking anything they need.

You're doing something important?

Maybe. It'll only be important if it works.

What are you trying to do?

I want to build a molecular scanner.

*looks at your borrowed equipment because it is new and unusual*

I don't know what that does.

[generic lab equipment, a lot of the smaller stuff is in boxes]

If it works I can use it to find weak points in the barrier.

You're good with machines and this world's science then.

Some people are working on the barrier issue . . . but it's more about strengthening the barrier.

It's the same idea, I can tell them which parts need strengthening.

runstowardsfire November 29 2011, 01:03:55 UTC
. . . But you don't actually need a machine for that.

How do you tell, then?

Some people here can sense when the barrier gets thinner or when something is pushing its way in. And no special senses were required when there was that hole in the fabric of this world a few months back.

This is not about thinness but about how easily broken it is. You can have a wall made of glass and a wall made of metal, and they might be equally thin, but one is easier to break than the other.
