Besides, there's that weird other worldy and time discrepancy... thing. I've been told anyone we know back home might not even notice we've been missing, so if that's true we won't have to worry about something happening without us there by the time we get back.

It's a little reassuring. Knowing that, although I'd like to go back home as soon as I can too, at least no harm will be done if we have to keep waiting until the right opportunity happens.
