One of the classes I'm taking this semester is called 'Dialectology'. Sounds cool, right? Unfortunately, the professor is anti-dialectology and so he's teaching the course from a 'why dialectology is dead, racist, and a waste of time'. It's awful. And he constantly makes false claims about how there are never job offerings for dialectology, how traditional dialectology doesn't work in the modern world, etc etc etc. He's wrong. The class is so painful, though. I wasn't going to take it until he told me that if I didn't, he wouldn't be on my dissertation committee and if he wasn't on my committee, I wouldn't be able to get a job. Ugh. Anyway, point is, it's always nice to remember that there are still people out there who do care about dialectology. You've brightened my day.

Yes, *THE* William Croft. I KNOW!!!! When the head told me that, I swear to you my eyes just got huge. I was in the computer lab at school and I was probably looked at like an idiot, but I didn't care. It was a very surreal moment for me.

Anyway, he told me that Croft is headed there in January. University of New Mexico. I'd love to be colleagues with you. Never know.
