Ella's Birth Story

May 03, 2012 16:24

I loved being pregnant both times, probably even more with this pregnancy. I felt great the whole time (I felt great with both pregnancies) and loved my belly. I carried all out front and definitely looked pregnant throughout, instead of fat. Plus I felt more connected to Baby than I did with my first pregnancy; it all seemed so abstract when I ( Read more... )

Man, I had to read all of that. And because I read all of that, it made me late for work. LOL

Actually, Tyler's went really smoothly it was just that horrid magnesium. Actual labor was shorter with Tyler as well.

We're going to stick with two, I'll just have to be envious of all the women with pregnant bellies and tiny newborns once Ella leaves that stage.

Wow! You just made me excited and scared all at once. Haha!
I haven't even thought too much about labor yet because I am/was just worried about getting through the first trimester. (less than 1 week left!)
You're amazing! Thank you for sharing.

Did you ever read my birth story with Tyler? Interesting how my pregnancy with Ty became complicated, but had a fairly routine labor and delivery (except for the magnesium) and my pregnancy with Ella went amazingly well and got complicated at delivery.

I'm so excited for you! I loved being pregnant, especially once I got past the first trimester and the worry that accompanies it.

It took me forever, but I'm glad I finally got it up here.

Wow, everything did happen so quickly! I had some trouble with the epidural--I had a hot spot on my hip where I could still feel everything. I think the epidural might have slipped out when I shifted up on my bed with the help of Steve and the nurse because eventually everything wore off. My option was to have them re-insert or I was dilated enough to push so I pushed!

Showers were also my fav :) I had wireless monitors so I was able to shower with them on thankfully.

Yay Ella! She's soo beautiful and adorable! Can't believe it's already been over 2 months!

okayyyy, after reading Ang's post and your comment, the epidural isn't a shot but something placed IN your spinal column that eventually comes out?!?! if so, I think i'm out!!!

Really, it isn't bad at all. You just have to sit still while they administer it. The worse part was when he was finding the spot to put the needle in, he had to press around my hips and stuff to find the right spot, and the pressing hurt me. AND then I had to endure it a second time. It left me bruised on my hips.

MY epidural with Ty was perfect. I could still feel the contrations but they weren't so uncomforatable, I could feel the urge to push, and I could feel my legs as well. They tape down the line going in really well so once it is in, it isn't a big deal.

You'll learn about them when you tour the hospital and/or take a child birth class.

No, not a shot, it's a continuous feed that's in your spine. You have a button that you can press if you need more meds to numb the pain, too. Mine didn't hurt when they inserted it...probably because the contractions were painful and I was too busy crying/puking! It made my legs tingly so the contractions weren't as painful, but I could still move them around (I didn't have dead legs). But then again, it didn't fully work since I had a hot spot where I felt contractions and the doc gave me an extra shot of meds in my back.
