Casual like a T-Shirt and Khaki Pants

So, I was laying in bed last night thinking about video games a bit and I came to the realization that I haven't completed a single video game in over 2 years now. This has led me to wonder if I've simply become a casual gamer or if video games really don't appeal to me all that much anymore. Or perhaps its the genres that are out there that don't ( Read more... )

I know exactly what you mean, and I feel for you. The Wii is the last machine I may ever want to buy. The 3DS isn't doing anything for me. The era of the fad technology that gets replaced in a few years isn't a good match for me, I'm afraid. And gaming's become too commercial, which makes for only a few games a year I'm interested in.

Wrestling games are great, because they don't take any time up. Heh. Be sure to make Haggar and Zangief. ;)

Wrestling games have always been fun and WWE All-Stars looks pretty fun since it's an arcade wrestler instead of the more 'real' games. And like I said, it's the old guys that is drawing me to the game, I could care less about most of the current superstars.

Too bad the Wii doesn't get the DLC content and there's no mention if they'll get any exclusive stuff to make up for it yet but the general roster is pretty awesome to begin with.

I do miss the old point and click adventure games from yesteryear. Nothing will ever beat that as my favorite genre. To this day, I mourn the Quest games and only wished that Activision would either do something with the Sierra brand or sell it off to someone that wants to bring it back to its former glory.

Yeah, the new wrestlers are lame. DLC is lame too. You get companies that sell you content on the disk, then charge you again to unlock it. Weaksauce!

I wonder if the Sierra games would do well these days. A lot of them haven't aged well, Quest for Glory being the obvious exception. At least we have Sam and Max!

DLC isn't bad when you can introduce new content that isn't available to start off with but I agree about paying more money to unlock content already available on the disc.

It's hard to know if Sierra games would do well these days. How have new point and click games been doing? Any sales data on the BTTF episodic games? That could be an indicator as to how Sierra games could do.

I know all too well the downfall of bad controllers. I can't play any SNES games anymore since my controllers are dead. :(

I can only imagine what today's gamers would do if faced with a game like Myst.

Yeah, my SNES controllers are on their last legs. Probably for the same reason as you: playing too much Super Street Fighter II. :)

The old brainy game computer days before the internet were rough. If you got stuck you had to just not beat the game or wait for a magazine with a hint. The entitlement generation would not abide this!

We should design a game with puzzles that make absolutely no sense simply to frustrate and piss people off.
