"My little brillo pad..." Frank Woodley and Sound and Fury

Feb 28, 2008 23:43

I shall re-cap for you my awesome afternoon/evening with Davide.

First, we met in town. Then we hung would with some people at Uni. Uni starts up again next week. I have most of the things I need. I'm only doing two subjects (English and History) so I'm only at Uni for three days a week. I have Mondays and Fridays off. *ducks the bricks people throw*

Then we went to dinner, and for a bit of a wonder around town before we walked over to the theater where our second Fringe act, Frank Woodly "Possessed" was going to be held. While we were waiting outside the theater, listening to the Transformers soundtrack on my iPod, three men came up to us. They were the members of a comedy group called 'Sound and Fury.' They said they had a Fringe show as well, and were looking for people to come. They're from L.A., but are very popular in Edmonton and Winnipeg. When I told them that I'm from Winnipeg, they gave Davide and I free tickets to their show, which was on right after Frank Woodley's. ^__^

Frank's show was very, very good. It's about a guy who lives alone, never going outside and spending his time making model ships until he gets possessed by the ghost of an Irish girl who drowned over 100 years ago. He has to try to find a way to set her free, and they fall in love. For a one man show, it's very, very good. It's full of all of Frank's typical physical comedy. One thing in particular I liked was a staircase that he never went up or down the same way twice. He did a good job switching between the two personalities, although he did mess up one time and got them mixed up. It was funny though, and he joked about it, then went on with the show. It had a bitter-sweet ending, but I enjoyed it all. Good on ya, Frank!

The Sound and Fury show was called "Cyranose!" It was a Monty Python-esque parody of Cyranose de Bivouac. (A story about an ugly guy who's a good writer and a handsome guy who isn't very good with words both falling in love with the same girl.) They were very, VERY funny. Everyone should go to see them. They're on until March 16 every night except Mondays at 9:30 PM. 120 Gouger St. Lev. 1. Tell them the girl from Winnipeg sent ya!

That's all for now. Or no wait! the Oscars!

Yeah... I'm disappointed that Transformers didn't win any. Optimus Fucking Prime would kick that polar bear's ASS! And you try to tell me that the Bourne movies win out over TF in anything. Yay for Sweeney Todd and Ratatouille though. :)

Okay, now I'm done. Good night!

Random Quotes:

Actor playing Cyranose: He was staring at her like this: *stares right at me, keeping his face straight*
Me: *sinks in her chair, looking meek* ........................ hi?
Actor playing Cyranose: *Can no longer keep a straight face and cracks up*
