I didn't read the spoilers part of your post at all since I don't like to be spoiled (so thank you, btw, for separating them out! :) ), but your post just made me super super excited for this. Thank you! :)
You're very welcome! I absolutely adored the first episode, it was much better than I could have ever hoped for so I'm all excited now too and wanted to share my squee :D If you have any questions I can try to answer them without giving away spoilers XD
Actually, I do have one question; part of my excitement is because David is working with Laura Fraser again; how many scenes are they in together? Are there a lot of flashbacks with the two of them (ooh, I hope!)?
Oh, and in case you're wondering, I found your post because of develish1's link in tennant_love. :)
There's a compilation of moments near the beginning of the family before Rita's death where they interact together. Rita is studying for an exam and quite stressed about it and gets mad when Dave decided to leave that night for his football practise. When he returns though she apologises and they kiss and it's a really cute scene <3
In the first episode there is only one flashback scene iirc. But it's really neatly done (Dave shows the children a photograph which turns into a flashback) and I assume there will be many more throughout the series as during the Q/A it was mentioned that all Laura's scenes were filmed first and the children developed a bond with her (which can hardly be done with just one scene).
I know! David was on television so much over Christmas/New Years but after that it's been such a long wait for something new... They said that it'd probably air soon so *crosses fingers*
Oh God I couldn't keep it dry during that scene and I heard quite a few sniffles around me as well... it was utterly amazing though, but so heartbreaking ;___;
Just the thought of David crying on screen makes me cry. So yeah, cry!fest ahead. Which only proves that he is the best actor. The story alone would have made me cry, even with another actor, but with David... I need to stock up on tissues!
But I am so happy about Murray Gold composing the music. I bet it was even more heartbreaking with his music.
There were in fact three scenes during the first episode that made me tear up. And not just because David is such an amazing actor, but the story itself is just really compelling. I'd definitely stock up on some tissues if I were you ;)
I better hope not, I need the next episode! It's possible even worse to wait now I've seen how amazing the first episode was and seen the previews for the next episodes...
