Wednesday was the 'day in the life' prompt of the blog-every-day-in-May challenge. I took all my pictures on Wednesday and then had no desire to actually post at the end of the evening, nor any time to post yesterday. So here is my day in the life, from two days ago. :p
Wednesday was not a typical day in my life, as I went to a conference all day instead of doing my usual work thing, but it was a day and I took pictures of it, so it's something. Not pictured: the stupid early time I woke up (6:00 am, ugh!), my wake up routine (bathroom, contacts in, shower, brush hair, get dressed).
This is a critical part of my morning routine. I check my email and read my webcomics while eating breakfast, and Aphrodite almost always takes that opportunity to hop onto my lap for cuddles. It was slightly awkward and difficult to get breakfast, cat and laptop all in the same photo, not gonna lie, but I wanted to show you my favorite part of the morning.
Off to Guelph for the conference! Have I mentioned how much I love having google maps (and the navigation feature) on my phone? Amazing.
Conference check-in.
Breakfast included in the price of the conference! (Which I will get reimbursed for anyway, so - free breakfast!) Yes, I did have breakfast before I left the house, what's your point?
Large packet of slides, all printed in color, all single sided. It makes me a sad sad panda when people do not double side things. (The conference was on psychiatric disorders and challenging behaviours in people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And the speaker was pretty interesting to listen to, so that was a plus.)
Lunch! Also included in conference price. None of the wraps were labeled, though, so it was a bit of a guessing game.
Conference continued. I know these pictures aren't thrilling, but that is what I did with my day from 9-4. It was mostly interesting material, but I really have a hard time just sitting and listening to someone talk for 6 hours. By the afternoon, I get pretty restless, no matter how good the presentation is.
Free book in exchange for filling out the evaluation of the speaker and presentation! Will add it to my work bookshelf.
Called Kelly on my way home, partly because it was her birthday, and partly because we needed to discuss the season finale of Once Upon a Time. (And for those concerned, I took the screenshot before I even pulled out of my parking space, and because I have the jack that lets me plug my phone right into my car's speakers, the call was completely hands-free while I was driving.)
Most people with pets have dogs that greet them at the door when they come home. Not me. My cat thinks she's a dog. This is often the first thing I see when I get home. Note the open mouth, mid-meow. :p
Dinner and catching up with some DVRed shows with Brad. (That's Hell's Kitchen on the screen, but it turned out to be an episode we'd already seen, so we watched Storage Wars instead.)
Post-dinner snuggling and playing around. ♥
Attempted to
furminate Aphrodite. This was only what came off of one side of her, before she got startled by a noise and ran away. I'm entirely sure we could make a whole litter of kittens out of the fur that we get off of her when we furminate her.
Time for dessert! Cookies 'n cream ice cream with caramel sauce, one of my favorites. :)
Catching up on my internetting. (gmail, the old reader, livejournal and ravelry - all the staples.)
Getting the new bank account set up! Can't wait to stop paying money every month just to have an account.
And that is where I stopped taking pictures, but I mostly just dicked around on the internet some more that night before making my lunch for the next day (discovering that the bread had gotten moldy in the process, which is definitely one of my pet peeves), and getting ready for bed (bedtime routine: brush teeth, floss, bathroom, contacts out). I think I will do another one of these ditl things at some point, hopefully with better/more interesting pictures.
Oooh, and today's post is A favorite photo of yourself and why, and I love sharing photos, so let's do that. I actually have a few favorite photos of myself. Does that sound vain? Not that I love looking at myself all the time or anything, but just that there are several photos that make me smile when I look at them, for different reasons.
This is one of my favorite pictures from my wedding, because it really shows just how happy I was that day, and I love that.
And, because I really can't resist posting another one, here is one of my favorite pictures of me as a kid:
I love absolutely everything about this picture. The ridiculous late '80s outfit, my lack of front teeth, my crooked bangs, but once again, mostly, I love how clearly and unabashedly happy I was in that picture.
With that, I am off to begin my long weekend the best way possible: by sleeping the hell IN tomorrow! :D G'night, kids!
