I think I'm still recovering from last night's food hangover. Brad and I did our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday; we always do it on the Sunday even though Monday is technically the holiday, because I can't imagine doing all that work and eating such a big meal and then having to get up and go to work the next day. No thank you! So we had our turkey ( Read more... )

Yeah we all share knitting as a common hobby, but that's not the main thing that makes the retreat so much fun. One of the girls nicknamed it the weekend of hedonism and that's about right lol.

Happy Thanksgiving! Your dinner sounds fantastic. I am looking forward to Thanksgivng this year, too! It's always so much delicious food.

That program your school district has set up with Big Brothers Big Sisters sounds AWESOME! Will you be able to meet with your mentee during/after school? Does it work like the regular program where you take the mentee on outings and things? My friend's mom did the Big Brother Big Sister program and we would take her Little Sister to the movies with us and do all sorts of fun things with her.

Your retreat sounds like so much fun! Your pictures from last year were fun to look at and HOLY SHIT, what a beautiful cottage! I loved all those windows.

Thanksgiving dinner is like one of my favorite meals of the whole year. I wish we had it more often, though maybe it wouldn't be as special then. Sometimes I get lucky and get two in a year, if enough of my American friends up here decide to do something for American Thanksgiving too. Not sure if that's going to happen this year or not, but we'll see ( ... )

Happy Thanksgiving! Sounds like you guys had a good day :)

I had a great Thanksgiving dinner last night, but alas, my employer does not give me Columbus Day off, so I had to go to work today. I really should have booked the day off like I usually do since I was totally in food coma this morning.

Most of my friends here are Canadian, though we were actually 50/50 at the dinner last night. There were M and I who are both Canadian and then one of his Canadian coworkers and his American girlfriend and then one of his American coworkers and his American girlfriend. Surprisingly, the American girlfriend of the Canadian guy did most of the cooking!

Aw, that's great! I'm glad you were still able to have a Thanksgiving dinner and celebrate with friends, even if you did have to go to work the next day. I would not have been able to concentrate through the food coma, haha. Will you do something for American Thanksgiving, too?

Probably not for Thanksgiving per se, but my mom's birthday is around then, so I will probably go and visit her for the weekend. On the years where I have been dating an American, there will be a dinner, but the other years, it's just a long weekend. My employer also doesn't give us Black Friday off, so I have to take a vacation day to get it off.

Will you do something for American Thanksgiving?

It's weird for me to think of not having Black Friday off, but then, I've always either been in school or worked for a school, so my perception of "days that everyone gets off" is slightly skewed. :p

Maybe. I have enough American friends up here that sometimes we'll throw something together, but usually the weekend following Thanksgiving, since obviously none of us get time off for it up here. Not sure what's going on yet this year; no one's made any plans yet that I know of.

I love this entry!

Food, so much food! It all sounds so delicious, though I'm :( about you saying that about mashed potatoes being meh! :( :( *dramatic* I'm glad you liked Brady's way of making them. They sound so delicious! Leftovers are the best, too. :-)

That's so awesome about you having a mentee (heh)! I think it's great he likes to bake!

The cabin looks gorgeous. It looks like you will be very busy, but it seems like it's mostly fun things, so that's great. :-)

Haha thanks! :-)

Lol yes it was a ridiculous but delicious amount of food. I'm sorry my potato statement made you sad, lol. It's just that regular mashed potatoes have never been my favorite. If they were all as good as the ones Brad made, I'd be a lot more excited about them.

Yeah, it is mostly fun stuff, thankfully. Should be good times. :-)
