You guys remember, a few months ago, how I was complaining about that 51 day cycle I had, and how that was soooooooo long and atrocious? Well, I managed to far surpass that and set myself a new record for stupidly long cycles that don't result in pregnancy. You ready for this number? You're not, really, there is no way to be prepared for this level ( Read more... )

stress, traveling, peel, food, argh, menstrual cycle, knitting, free stuff!

Ok. I have a weird suggestion regarding getting pregnant. When I was researching and trying to decide which menstrual cup to buy, I came across a bunch of blogs where people inserted a menstrual cup immediately after sex...presumably to give sperm a better chance? Lol. I have no idea. But people seemed to have big results -- like getting pregnant the first time they tried this when they had been trying for several months before that.

Kind of an off the wall idea, but I just remembered reading it and thought I'd pass it along. No clue if it really DOES help or if these women's experiences are just a coincidence, but can't hurt to try.

So glad you were able to use the yarn! Yay.

Huh, that's an interesting suggestion. I don't think I would have thought of that, but maybe I'll have to try that next time I'm ovulating. Can't hurt, anyway!

Oh yeah, the shawl came out beautifully, I think. I'll have to post pictures of it so you can see it. :)

A 68 day long cycle is absurd :/ I'm sorry - that just plain SUCKS. And it makes no sense. I can't wait for the holidays either - I'm taking two weeks off. The next two weeks feel like they are going to just crawl right by though.

I know. It's wretched. I just wish my body would return to some sense of normalcy so I could have a clue what was going on with it!

Yeah, I agree. These next two weeks are probably going to be a slog, but at least then we get some fun times. Do you have any plans for the holidays/any time off?

I will go to my parents for a bit, but I haven't decided yet when exactly or for how long. Yay for being able to drive to visit family! And I also plan to deep clean my apartment a bit :)

I talked to the doctor a few weeks ago, and at this point there's not much. There isn't really any hard and fast rule as far as how long it should take your cycles to regulate once you go off birth control. Also, while the period of time in between ovulation and your period is generally pretty consistent from cycle to cycle, the beginning part of your cycle can be pretty much any length. If we get to a year of trying with no success, then they can start doing tests and stuff to figure out why, but we're not there yet.

That sucks about the long cycle! Wth? Were you regular before you were on birth control? I wonder if there's a correlation between length of time on bcp and how long it takes for the body to normalize? I have no idea, but BOO!

Who wants to be working on a presentation so close before going on vacation?! Ugh, I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

So exciting about you being here for Christmas! :D

See, that's the thing: I have no idea what my cycle was like before birth control, because it was so long ago, and it was never something I paid attention to or kept track of at the time. :-/ But yeah, boo indeed.

No one, would be my guess! At least I'm doing the presentation as part of a group, so I don't have to do all the work myself. Still, I'll be very happy when it's over.

Haha, I am glad you're excited, even though "here" will still be the other side of the country from you. :p Maybe one day I'll be able to visit Colorado, though, who knows?

:/ Here's hoping that your cycles don't continue being so long!

That's great it's not just you! Still, boo to having to do it at l!

Indeed! I hope you go make it over here someday. It really is quite gorgeous.

Ugh. It certainly doesn't sound like your body has gotten used to being off the pill yet. It took my friend a full year after she stopped taking the pill before she got pregnant. She and her husband were actually just a few weeks away from going to a fertility doctor and then they found out they were pregnant! How long had you been taking the pill?

Is Brad going to Jersey with you or are you going it alone? It's good that you'll get to see your sister! Yay! :)

I'd been on it for six years continuously before I stopped taking it. Prior to that, I was on it for one year when my ex and I were dating, then I was off of it for another year before I started the six year stretch. So yeah, it could just be that my body still needs more time to adjust to regulating its own hormones, but I wish there was some way to just know what it was doing. :p

No, it'll just be me this trip. He'd be bored and unhappy being dragged around to see all my friends and stuff, and then I wouldn't enjoy myself as much because I'd be worried about him being unhappy, etc. etc. etc. But yeah, I'm really excited that I'll get to see my sister. I haven't seen her since she came up here for Thanksgiving LAST YEAR, which is just ridiculous. It sucks only seeing her once a year.
