Many things have happened in the past few weeks...
The foremost concern in my mind has been that I'm completely broke. This is not, in itself, bothersome to me, but the inability to pay bills is most troubling. I've managed to scrape up enough for this month's bills, so it's not an enormous concern any more. It's been a good reminder of where my money goes. It's almost like I go through cycles of poverty so I don't forget that money is a tool. I don't really object to this reminder, except that finding a new job every 8 months or so is tiresome.
Speaking of new jobs, a bright spot has appeared on my horizon. I've been hired at a company called West, which is establishing a call center in the old DecisionOne building in Bryan. It's a step up, as I'll be a team leader instead of a front-line technician. I'm excited about having a full-time job, again, even though I really don't want to do call center work for the rest of my life. I will do well in this job as long as I need. The worst thing about getting this job is I have to leave K2Share, where I have been working. The people in this little bright business star are unmatched in their devotion and friendship. It's a refreshing place compared to the cold-stone environment of D1. I'm going to miss them. The job at K2 really just isn't covering my financial needs, and the scheduling prevents me from taking temporary jobs reliably. I'm looking forward to the job at West, though, because the emphasis at that company seems to be on taking care of the customer, which was kind of touch-and-go with D1.
Continuing the trend of brightening this post, my sister is getting married this Saturday. I'm one of the groomsmen, which is going to be interesting. I pick up my tuxedo tomorrow, and then go to the rehearsal dinner in Houston. My friend looking_bird will be coming down with me, then staying out at Faire, probably, so she can get her hair done out there for the wedding. I may do the same, as my hair is long enough now that I don't really know what to do with it. I'll probably be the oddest groomsman, but what better title is there for the bride's elder brother?
Let's see, what else...
Oh, last weekend I went to an after-hours show at RenFaire with my sister. This show is put on my rennies to raise money to help rennies in need. It's sponsored by RESCU, the rennie aid organization, and SPANC, one of the performing arts associations in Toon Town. It was a lot of fun, with good music and comedy, and some fun little shows. The most amazing thing is to see the entertainers and workers out in fairly common clothes, and to realize that, while they may look and act different, these are real people. They just follow a different path to glory (pardon the expression). It's a refreshing thing to see people that don't follow the norm, and are happy doing so.
This next weekend is also the last weekend of Faire. It's about time, I think.
And with that, I shall wrap up this post.
