Bonus Scene
I watched on in horror as Luhan sailed through the air, honey-brown hair weighed down by the rain. Luhan’s mouth was wide open, mid-scream. His wide eyes met mine as he flew past me and went down, down, down, with a splash muffled by the storm, into the dark threatening waters of the sea.
I could only watch on in anxiety and fear for my best friend as Luhan remained underwater for the longest time. How long can someone hold his breath? I asked myself, as the seconds ticked by. Seconds that seemed like hours. I found myself yelling Luhan’s name over and over again, and I didn’t even notice that Yixing had come out of under the canopy until he slapped me.
Yixing’s reaction to the situation was more violent than mine, and I ended up stopping Yixing from throwing himself to his death.
“Why did you stop me.” Yixing had said, more of an accusation than a question. “We killed Luhan.”
We killed Luhan.
I wasn’t able to stop Luhan from being thrown into the sea, even though he was standing next to me. All it would’ve taken for me was to reach out and grab him when the boat jerked and everything would’ve been all right.
We killed Luhan.
We killed Luhan.
I killed Luhan.
