Callie let the hot water wash down over her face, smoothing her hair back as the stream cascaded around her. There was a smile on her face and a lightness in her heart that she’d not felt for a very long time.
She... was in love.
Damn him for making her admit it to herself, she thought as her smile widened. She’d simply been watching him sleep that morning, and there it was... as though she’d known for as long as she could remember - she was in love.
She turned under the stream and as she did, she saw the shower door open and felt butterflies rush about in her stomach as he casually slid inside, smiling at her in that way that always made her weak in the knees.
"What do you think you’re doing?" she asked, an eyebrow raised.
He took a step closer, and then another until his body was almost pressing against hers - the water now cascading down his bronzed skin.
"Saving time," he rasped, giving her a wink as he reached around her for the soap.
She could only smile at him as she smoothed her hair away from her face, the water still slipping about his body and hers.
"Let me help you," he nearly whispered, surprising her with the shampoo in his hands.
His hands were in her hair, lathering the bundle with the shampoo before she could protest... not that she would have, she thought - closing her eyes and enjoying the feel of him near her. She moved her hands around his waist, holding onto the small of his back as he washed her hair - the two sharing this shower as though they had done just this a million times... so casual, so intimate... so perfect. Just like he was... for her.
