He felt the disturbance in the force before he saw the cause... the tall, put-together red head with the loose curls across the bullpen. The way she carried herself reminded him of dames from the silver screen, that delicate mix of demure beauty and ferocity. Rita Hayworth meets Katherine Hepburn - a classic reinvented for modern times when most of LA was a world gone plastic.
“In your dreams, Granger.”
Nikki’s voice over his shoulder brought him to the present. Before he could answer, she was walking away with a reproachful shake of her head. “David's been in DC a week, and already you've got a wandering eye.”
Colby shrugged. “A man’s got needs,” he called after her, hearing her laugh before he sought out Red for one more glance. She’d disappeared from sight, but somehow he knew he’d see her again…at the very least, as Nikki said, in his dreams.
