The joys of proofreading..

Last night I proofread a student's attempt to write a Beowulf-esque story. It featured a line along the lines of:

They found his body in the morning; he had been attacked and emboweled.

I noted to the student that traditionally monsters are known for removing their victims entrails, not installing them.

I dunno....it adds a different twist. I think having an *extra* set of entrails could be quite discomfiting.

I actually find it quite refreshing to see monsters realizing they don't need all those extra entrails laying around. Why not give them to someone else?

Seriously, that line had me in tears. :-D
