I haven't seen that study, but I'd hope that if they're reporting differences as significant it's on the basis of an appropriate statistical test and there's a p-value reported as well. It isn't all that unusual for researchers to gloss over differences taht weren't significant, but if it affects their conclusions I agree that the p-value for that ought to be included.
