Yay for Burning Man tickets
I jumped into the electronic line for Burning Man tickets three hours after they went on sale. The first tier of 10,000 tickets had already sold out and there were 7,000 people in front of me. En route to the Viles' to escape the home football game this weekend, I heard the first Christmas carol on the radio. Can't we at least get closer to Thanksgiving? On a similar note, the local grocery stores stopped carrying the nominally Halloween related Pumpkin Ale well before Oct. 31 in order to make room for ... Winter beer. Sigh. -

The drive back from the One True Party reminded me of channel surfing through (North|South) Carolina radio stations a few trips ago and coming across an aural form of prozac crossed with the colour beige which promised only relaxing, soothing things. Solstice enjoyment & another different between geeks and non
I spent a few enjoyable hours today enjoying the solstice by having dinner with friends (one old, one recent, two I just met) at the Cellar and then taking a lazy trip on the New River by the Radford Arsenal to see the sunset and the stars. I was using my mother's laptop to check news while visiting her, as while they finally got DSL, I had no easy way to hook my laptop into it.
