Had time to survey this article :  Meet the Cullens: Family, Romance, and Female Agency in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Twilight   by Kirsten Stevens. And I should have added in my post that another quality of this article is that it is well written, with ideas clearly expressed and without any pretentious gibberish in view.

I did begin to read it. I'm not sure I'm convinced by the argument about the Master and the patriarchal family, but I will go back and read it properly and then make my mind up.
