I don't know exactly what caused this walk on memory lane today, but I spent some time looking for videos of David Bowie in the seventies. When I was a student at the beginning of the eighties, the character totally fascinated me. Looking at his face in this video reminded me of one of the reasons why he fascinated me so much (and bonus it's one of ( Read more... )

Huh. I was a huge Bowie fan back in the day, and never made the connection. Interesting.

I hope RL gets better! You've been missed.

Thank you for the kind wishes. I too hope it'll get better.

"I was a huge Bowie fan back in the day". Nice to know. I wonder how many people amongst those who really love Spike's character were Bowie's fans in their days? Not that has to go hand in hand of course, but it would be interesting to know just for the fun of it.

Yes you're right, that grace is something they both share and it's certainly a part of their attraction, at least for these sensitive to this physical quality.Seing them move even makes you forget how meager they had become at certain moments, something you see on the contrary when you're looking at pictures.

I didn't know Marsters took dance in school -so thank you for the info about that and about Shells- but an image of him -often used in icons- in one of Spike's fight against Angel always struck me because he really looks like a dancer.

"He's one of the few - that I'd love to see in concert and alas, have not." I was lucky enough in the early eighties to go to one of the Bowie's concert in Paris. It was a night of madness, with a crowd so big that the public means of transportation weren't sufficient to convey all the people after the concert. But I really wish I had been able to see one of his concert during the early seventies. Sigh.
