ohhhh the book thief is really good!
and you should totally play mass effect 2, it is the most excellent game (you can get it for PC and xbox, i think ...) and maybe the first game too, but it's kind of old and tends to be a bit weird and glitchy and the controls are impossible :| but that might be me.

and because i have a bookshelf right in front of me, HERE ARE SOME MORE SUGGESTIONS
warm bodies, isaac marion
good omens, terry pratchett & neil gaiman
fragile things, neil gaiman (short story collection)
the pillars of the earth, ken follet
temeraire, naomi novik
brideshead revisited, evelyn waugh
captain corelli's mandolin, louis de bernieres
the lovely bones, alice sebold
the shadow of the wind, carlos ruiz zafon
the remains of the day, kazuo ishiguro
artemis fowl, eoin colfer (FEEL FREE TO IGNORE THIS THEY'RE BOOKS FOR 8-12s AND NOT WELL WRITTEN BUT GOD THEY'RE ENGAGING... judge me and i'll eat you ( ... )

WELL the sappy ones are all also historical and social commentaries as well (except for warm bodies which is ... a romance novel about a zombie) but yes reading descriptions :|b you are wiser than i am, i routinely buy books because they have pretty covers
i feel this is fairly bad considering that i once wanted to do english at university.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is SO GOOD. You'll love it.

Some more PS3 games you should check out: God of War 3 (ridiculous and violent, but AWESOME and actually quite beautiful in parts), Red Dead Redemption (cowboys! Shooting things! While riding on top of moving trains!), Mass Effect 2 (seriously, the best sci fi game I've ever played) and Valve's Orange Box.

I am very inclined to buy Mass Effect 2 and Read Dead Redemption, but I don't know about God of War. I never really... was interest in it? BUT MASS EFFECT IS STILL TOO EXPENSIVE. So I'll wait until the price drops, hurr durr.

And Orange Box looks like a darn sweet deal!
