Settling down on a seat near the window of the quaint little cafe, Ryutaro signalled for the waitress and ordered his usual coffee. His order arrived a few minutes later and he thanked the waitress. Wrapping his long, slender fingers around the steaming hot mug, he drank the liquid and closed his eyes, savoring the flavor and letting the memories flood his mind.
“Ryu-chan, you’re cold. Are you okay?” The smaller boy’s face was scrunched up in concern and worry. The said boy could only smile and kiss his boyfriend’s cheek, squeezing his hand reassuringly. Chinen could only smile and intertwine their fingers, loving the pressure.
Walking through the streets in this cold weather was taking its toll on the two boys so they entered a small cafe and sat by the window, talking aimlessly about everything and anything, occasionally laughing and teasing each other.
He left the money on the table and went out, the warm, spring breeze welcoming him. He fingered the charm dangling lazily on his chest and a smile unconsciously graced his features. He took a look at it and remembered how he got it.
“Happy Anniversary Ryu-chan!” It felt as though a missile hit him in the stomach when his boyfriend tackled him to the ground, showering him with kisses and basically just depriving him of air and a way to get up. When he did, a colored box was shoved in his arms. He looked up at his boyfriend in confusion but he was only given that beautiful smile. With shaking hands, he undid the ribbon and slowly lifted the lid, revealing a chain necklace with a broken half. Chinen pulled out the other half from under his shirt and it glistened under the light. Ryutaro watched as Chinen took the necklace from the box and leaned towards him, clasping the lock at the back and looking at him with a smile. “I love you.” Ryutaro said. “I love you too.” And he leaned in, capturing the other’s lips for a sweet kiss, their necklaces forming a big heart with their initials engraved.

He stretched his arms and yawned, gently closing the thick textbook. Homework was done and he needed some much deserved rest. Getting up, he headed for the bathroom and brushed his teeth. Diving into the covers, he cocooned himself with his blankets and slept, dreaming about him.
Morning came and he was awakened by his annoying alarm clock. Hitting it closed, he lazily got up and dressed for school-- not bothering to eat breakfast. Walking lazily towards the school gate, he trudged to his classroom and sat down on his seat. The bell rang and classes begun, another boring day.
Entering the almost empty train cart, he sat down and closed his eyes, resting them for a bit before slowly drifting to sleep. The train jerked to a stop resulting him to wake up and he saw that he was near his stop so he sat up. “Chinen?” That voice, he could never forget that voice. He looked up and saw those big, brown eyes staring straight at him. “R-Ryutaro?” He managed to sputter out and the other smiled, he loved that smile. The other boy gestured to the seat beside him and he scooted over, giving a little space. The atmosphere was tense as both boys sat there in silence. “I-It’s been a while....” Chinen stuttered out. “Almost a year, right?” Ryutaro nodded and responded with an awkward “How’ve you been lately?” Chinen replied that he was fine and school was boring and such. The train screeched to a stop and Chinen got up quickly, wanting to just leave and go home so he could bury in his covers and convince himself this was all just a dream.
Ryutaro knows this is his last chance to ever see the boy again so he grabbed him by the arms and stopped him. “W-would you like to take a walk with me?” Chinen just looked at him before nodding. Exiting the station, they walked into the cool night. A chilly breeze blew past and Ryutaro could feel the other one shiver. He wrapped one arm around his shoulder and pulled him closer, both boys blushing at the close contact. They arrived at the park and a wave of nostalgia came over them as they neared a secluded bench. “R-ryutaro...” But the other boy was faster. “Chinen, I know I’ve hurt you so much in the past and we broke up on bad terms...” The smaller boy looked at him. “I wanted to apologize for hurting the one thing I ever really cared for in my life,” He stepped closer and brought a hand to Chinen’s face, thumbing his cheeks. “Why did I ever try hurting you? What was I thinking?” He gazed into the other’s eyes which were clouding with tears and he couldn’t help but hug him. “R-ryutaro, I-I-I...” Said boy pulled away and looked at him, “Hmm?” “I-I-I love you.” “I love you, too.” And they kissed, a kiss filled with love and need, making up for the long months of being apart. Pulling away, they rested their foreheads against each other. “I’m willing to give this a try--oof!” Before Ryutaro could even finish his sentence, Chinen hugged him tight, “Yes!” And with that simple ‘yes’, two restless hearts were once again together, beating in perfect harmony.
