i was in london last week and my friend and i needed to get rid of a bunch of change at the gatwick airport, so naturally we picked a candy vending machine.
But everytime i asked for chips I would get fries :( So, ask for what you want! But McCoy's is a great brand. Some of the English crisps do leave a funny aftertaste, though. As for me, I like salt and vinegar but I can't eat salt and vinegar crisps.
A few years ago I worked at Target, whose breakroom snack machine always contained weirdly-flavored chips. There were Hot Dog And Mustard chips, Jalapeno and Lime chips (yum!), and the terrible & regrettable Pickle chips. After the Pickle chips, I decided to just buy Reese's Pieces every day instead.
There are TONS of weirdly flavored potato chips. I talked with Ricard Vobes one time and he was going through some of the weird flavors they have in the UK. Crazy stuff.
i never knew you guys thought WE were the weird ones...

I'm from the UK and i went to the states for the first time a few months ago. It wasn't until the fouth week of our trip, sat in a park in NYC with the funniest gay newyorker you'd ever meet that he told us we had odd crisp flavours at home. We were told the same thing in Canada.
We may not have an empire any more, we may no longer command any respect in the international political community, but at least we've got cool crisp flavouring!!! :D
