i totally agree that easter chocolate has a particular taste. i think it's probably because it's lower quality, so it often tastes milkier and sort of...chalkier.
i know those sound like negative adjectives, but really the distinctive taste just makes chocolate from various seasons more evocative. i can't say as i've noticed a similar thing with christmas chocolate, but i certainly enjoy the vast VARIETY you can get at this time of year!
I agree! I think it's because different companies are associated with the holidays. Like, Russel Stover and Whitman's are kind of Valentine's Day candies, and Cadbury creme eggs are an Easter staple -- not to mention the ubiquitous chocolate rabbits, which range from horrible to delictable. Winter holidays have those little gold wrapped coins, which also can be both great and gross.
My absolute favourite candy is Christmas Peanut M&Ms. I don't even like Peanut M&Ms the rest of the year, but when they're just red and green, they taste amazing. It all ties in to childhood memories for me, but definitely seasonal candy is the best.
