For a great deal of her life, even as a child, Ukraine herself was the "mother" in the family- however, the three siblings did indeed have a parent; Kievan Rus' was their "father", who raised them and taught them nearly everything they know. Ukraine was the most influenced by him among the three and is the most like him, but all three of the siblings loved him deeply and she was no exception; being the oldest, she was the closest to him and knew him the best. Still, this relationship was rather short-lived; in 1349, he "died", leaving the three children alone to struggle and survive for their own in the cold. She remembers him with a mix of fondness and sadness today.

Oh dear. Ukraine is the oldest sister in the family, with two younger siblings; Russia and Belarus. And the relationship between the three Slavic siblings is complicated to say the least and frequently very, very difficult. She indeed loves them both unconditionally, less than her people but more than any other nation in the world. Nobody knows either of them better than she does, but just as frequently they confuse her and she often feels as though she doesn't understand them. When it comes to Russia specifically, there is a lot of resentment and dislike over the past and even today they frequently don't get along well- and even so, she loves him and knows he isn't a bad person even though he did bad things, and almost understands him as much as she doesn't- her negative feelings are almost matched by her affection for him, which tends to win out in the end, mot of the time- and she knows that she needs him and often relies on him even though she doesn't like it. She has finally, only recently, become her own nation again after all these years, which only intensifies her desire to stay away from him and prove herself. With Russia, it's a messy, complicated mix of awkwardness, tension and and love.
