Ladies and Gentlemen, I am the proud, official owner of a firearm!

Check it out! It's a Walther PPK-S! .38ACP Calibre, just like James Bond and the Gestapo had.

I love Bersas!

My next firearm is a semi-automatic shotgun, though! :D Do you have the concealed weapons permit?

Actually, now that I have your attention, what are the firearms laws like in Maryland? Alfred bought a .40 Caliber Smith & Wesson Military & Police pistol, and he may be going to Georgetown next fall to get an LLM. He'll probably be living in the Bethesda-area (assuming he gets into Georgetown... I pray he does because the other options are UF and UMiami) because a) he has an immune system condition and would prefer to be near the NIH, and b) he has family there. So any information on what the state laws there are regarding firearms would be good to know and pass along to him. :) Remember, Florida's gun laws are among the most lax in the lower 48, so we're always getting confused as to what we can and cannot do once we cross the statelines.

THANKS!

we can't get a concealed permit in Maryland - it's nigh impossible, despite the state being a "may issue" state. if he has a CCW for Florida it won't be worth anything here, though i believe Virginia and Pennsylvania both honor it. i'm not 100% on that information, however.

we cannot open carry here, either. basically, he will be limited to keeping it at home, or transporting it somewhere specific. PURCHASING is less of a pain, though. as long as he's not a felon and he sits through a 14 minute video, he'll be able to purchase. the wait for a sidearm is 7-10 days, while shotguns are like 2 hours. beyond that, i have no idea. this website gives a great idea of laws in MD, but his best bet would be to contact the state police regarding the most current laws.
