most everyone here is also on facebook, so hopefully you noticed it was my birthday. no? well, it was.
after nothing going quite like i planned during friday afternoon (no haircut, no glasses, no movie with my dad) things certainly took a change for the better.
1. i did not go to tech night. a douchebag is still a douchebag and noonw voluntarily turns their birthday over for douchebaggery.
2. I met some friends down at the blue cat. Mostly I was just hungry and couldn't bring myself to the lonely solo pizza ordering on my birthday. I wanted low key, but that wold have just been sad.
3. I had two drinks, which I ahve learned is the right amount of drinks for me to forget i was only goiing out for two drinks. So I had three and then we decided to go to...
4. Kareoke. at the oddest little bar i've ever been to. I say the whitest black guys sing Play that funky music, and the blackest white girl do some snoop dog. I think it was also Lesbians Who Love Country Music Night, so it was an eclectic mix. Somewhere in there we decided it would be a good idea to....
5. Go down to the river and drink a bottle of rum. it was still safely tucked under a blanket strapped i nto the child seat where I never got it out for Jubilee. Oh, and one of those great storms rolled in, so we "played" in the rain, and then huddled in my van to pass the rum around.
6. around three we went to Ross's, which for those of you who don't live here, is the place to be when its the middle of the night and you are drunk and dripping wet. Order a Magic Mountain. You'll regret it, but you'll have a fabulous story to tell. oh, and there was this REALLY supremely intoxicated lady in the restroom who took her pants down and PROVED to me that she was "on her rag." after warm coffee, deep fried pickles, and fried raviolis, we went back to the river to watch the sunrise. it was amazing. and you missed it.
7. I went home for three whole hours of sleep before I went to go look at a little house. it was cute.
8. I did end up getting new glasses afterall. just a day late. they too are cute. In fact I got two pair. it's amazing what I can do with a little health insurance and a regular paycheck. The second pair is less cute, but still respectable, and will be good for days when i'm not feeling hip and cool. (days ending in y.)
9. I got to play bricks and mortor Catan, which is one of my favoritest things in the whole world, even if the other players ganged up to defeat me. it took both of them, and many rounds of cheating to do it. they figured out early I was going to make them cry for their momma's if they played individually so even though I lost, I feel pretty good about my Catan skill set. I rock.
10. i signed a lease for the little house mentioned back in number 7. so I'm moving. huzzah.
the rest of the weekend has been about napping and laundry and cleaning and packing. between student loan payments and rent, i might be back to feeling broke again, but i'm ok with that. it feels good. screw that- it feels great. Maybe money can't buy happiness, but you can rent it.
so i'm a year older. but if this first weekend is any indication of the rest of the year, things are looking up.
