Yeah, so Tuesday I walked down to the Navy recruiting station at about 9:30 in the morning, and I didn't get home until Wednesday at about 5 pm. It happened pretty fast, but I'm now signed up as an Information Systems Technician in the Navy, scheduled for departure March 31, 2008. That doesn't sound so bad! I have no idea what an "Information Systems Technician" actually does though. D: Play minesweeper in a nuclear sub?

"Turn your head and cough" was the least weird thing about it!

IT basically builds and maintains networks and does programming, so the Navy'll pay me to take college courses in those disciplines since it's part of the job anyway. The classifier tried to sell me on Missile Technician though, which involves manning the missiles in submarines! The only two points he brought up in his defense were that you get extra money for being on a sub and "they're not as small as people say".
