CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Amalthea/ the Unicorn from The Last Unicorn
In-Game Name: Amalthea
Age: slightly younger than Reial. She doesn’t know, exactly, but she is very old.
Gender: Female Position & Ship: Amestris- Passenger

Appearance:
Standing 17 hands tall from hooves to mane(not including the horn), the unicorn looks nothing at all like a horned horse. If anything, her body looks more like a deer’s, but is the color of moon-lit snow. She has slightly pointed ears, and her hooves are cloven, like a goat’s, with white tufts of hair at the ankles. More like a lion’s than a horse’s, her tail ends in a tuft of downy white hair. The mane is long and falls just shy of the center of her back. Her eyes are just a tad further apart than a horse’s, but are large and a blue so deep and pure you could fall into them. When you look directly into her eyes, you do not see yourself reflected; rather, you see her home forest, with trees and baby foxes playing, etc.

Funny thing about unicorns, you can only see her for what she is if you know how to look properly. If your heart is pure, if you trust, and if you know what you’re looking at, you see a unicorn. If you just see whatever is easiest, you see a white mare. A beautiful one, yes, but still only a horse.

The unicorn also has a human form, but she has not had much need for it in the past. Amalthea (for that is the name she was given) stands at about 5’7,” and is almost completely albino. Her skin and hair are the same moon-lit-snow color as they are in her unicorn form, and her eyes are just as blue and deep. Rather than a horn, Amalthea has a star-shaped pink birthmark on her forehead, which is sometimes covered by her bangs. She still possesses the same liquid grace and stillness of her unicorn form, with one major difference. The human form is mortal.

Personality:
The unicorn is old and very wise, but she prefers the company of animals to humans, and is very unused to large groups of humans. As such, she can first appear to be very aloof and unapproachable. Once she gets to know you, she is extremely caring, sweet and kind, and is fiercely protective of you. She tends to be wary of hero-type men, having fallen in love with one once, and will avoid them as much as possible. She has a very close kinship with children, demi-humans (particularly magic ones) and animals, and tends to get along much better with women than men. She is quick to take offense at people for their impudence or ignorance, and does not suffer fools lightly. If you offend her, she will either attack you, or simply leave.

The unicorn suffers a bit from vanity, as all unicorns do, for they know themselves to be the most beautiful creatures in the world. She finds it hard to believe that anything that can die can be beautiful.

Once, the unicorn was unable to feel most ‘negative emotions.’ She accepted that things are the way they are, and you cannot change them. She can feel sorrow at times, but that’s not really the same thing. She does not know despair, pointlessness, or hate. There was a time, once, when she did not even know what regret was, but events in her life have made it possible for her to feel remorse and other such emotions, but to a far less of a degree than humans know these emotions. Now, particularly, memories of such emotions have faded, and she is beginning to be unable to feel them again. Even so, she is much closer, emotionally, to humans than other unicorns, and she can understand them far better for it. However, when she becomes suddenly in the grip of one of these negative emotions that unicorns are not meant to feel, she will automatically change into her human form, and will be unable to revert back until she is once more calm and at peace.

Abilities/Weapons:
The horn of a unicorn has healing properties, and can heal even the most grievously injured person. A lesser known and even lesser used ability of the horn is the ability to turn base metals into gold. Having no need of money, however, the unicorn doesn’t really use this power and often doesn’t even remember she has it.

Her horn has other uses as well; it can take life as well as give it. The unicorn can fight remarkably well for a hoofed animal, close combat only, though. She has used her horn to fight off dragons, harpies, and, most impressively, the Red Bull.

Being a creature of magic, the unicorn cannot be deceived by false appearances, and she can see through even the most skillful spells. The unicorn is immortal, and does not get sick or age. She is incredibly hard to kill, but it can be done.

Her only other main ability is to become human, which she can turn become at will. In human form, she posses no further abilities, and can only heal shallow or non-life threatening wounds. She can still sense magic things and see through illusion and deception spells as a human.

How well can your character hack?:
Not well at all. She’s out of touch with technology and can’t really type with her hooves. In human form, she does a little better, but still can’t hack

Weaknesses: Although the unicorn is immortal, she has left her home forest, where she is at her most powerful. As such, she can be killed, though doing so would be difficult, and would curse the killer with a half-life. Mentally, she suffers quite a bit from Vanity, but it’s just part of being a unicorn. It’s hard when you know you’re the most beautiful creature in existence. She’s also very indecisive and does not handle change very well.

The unicorn’s magic is natural. As such, spells can still be placed upon her and she is powerless to stop them. Also, being a creature of pure, natural magic, the Unicorn’s abilities are unable to work in the presence of cold iron. Fortunately for her, the newer airships are made of mostly steel.

Her human form has far more weakness than positives. For one thing, it is mortal, and can be killed in any manner than would kill a normal human. Apart from a slight ability to heal, the human form is also limited to normal human abilities. She also cannot always control the transformation, particularly when in the grip of strong emotion. The greatest weakness of the human form, however, is simply that it is human. If she remains in it for too long, she will begin to forget herself, and forget that she was ever a unicorn. If that ever happens, she will be trapped in her human form, and grow old and die like any other human.

History: Unicorns are as old as Reial itself, and this one was one of the first. The unicorn lived in a lilac wood in Erealia. Nothing ever changed in her wood while she was there, not even the seasons, for woods in which a unicorn lives are sacred places. Even the animals which live, breed and die there learn a little magic of their own over time. She does not know how long she lived there in peace and happiness, but it must have been several centuries.

One day while in her wood, the unicorn happened to overhear two hunters lamenting of the fact that they could find no game, and one of them commented that it must be because the last unicorn in the world lived in the wood. They went to hunt elsewhere, leaving the unicorn to ponder over whether or not she truly was the last one of her kind in Reial. A butterfly told her of a Red Bull, who pushed all the unicorns to the ends of the earth. After major indecision about whether to leave or not, the unicorn set off to find the others.

After months of travelling with no leads, the unicorn was captured a by witch who ran a traveling circus. The witch made her living by casting illusions of fearsome mythological creatures onto normal animals. She turned a harmless grass snake into a dragon, a shabby, toothless lion into a Manticore, and an old ape with a twisted foot into a Satyr. Knowing what the unicorn was, the witch cast a false-horn spell upon her so that those who could not normally see unicorns would pay money to see her. This disturbed the unicorn greatly. No one had ever put a spell on her before, and it pounded home the idea that the world no longer knew her. Also imprisoned in the circus was an actual Harpy.

A magician traveling with the carnival knew the Unicorn for what she is, and freed her in the middle of the night. The Unicorn used her horn to break the locks on the cages of the other animals, setting them free. Including the Harpy, who celebrated her freedom by killing the witch. The Unicorn allowed the magician to travel with her as a reward for freeing her. He told her that the red Bull was in the service of a king and lived in the king’s castle. After much travelling and adding a third person to their group, they finally arrived at the castle. The Red Bull attacked them, chasing after the unicorn. She ran, but was unable to escape the bull. In an effort to aid her, the magician unwittingly turned the Unicorn into a human female. Confused by the change, the Red Bull gave up the pursuit and disappeared. The spell had disastrous consequences on the Unicorn, who suffered tremendous shock at the sudden feeling of mortality in her human body.

The three continued to the castle, where the magician introduced the Unicorn as "Lady Amalthea." The King became enraged when he looked into Amalthea’s eyes and could not see himself in them. Nevertheless, he allowed them to stay at his castle. During their stay, Amalthea was romanced by the King’s son, who became a local hero as an attempt to woo her. Unfortunately for the unicorn, she began to fall in love with him. The longer she spent in a human body, the more Amalthea began to forget herself and feel less and less like a unicorn. Eventually, the King himself, suspecting what Amalthea truly was, revealed that he had ordered the Red Bull to trap all the other unicorns in the clouds for his own amusement, because the unicorns are the only things that make him happy. He stared into her eyes, but they had become empty, and he was able to see himself in them. She was almost completely human.

Following clues given to them by a cat, the magician and Amalthea found the entrance to the Red Bull's lair. They managed to enter and were joined by the Prince. When the Red Bull attacked them, the magician changed Amalthea back to her original form. But the magician was an inept fool, and was unable to reverse the spell completely. For the rest of her life, she would have the ability to return to human form, if she wished. (She very rarely so wishes). In an effort to save the Unicorn, the prince jumped into the bull's path and was severely wounded. Fueled by anger and sorrow, the Unicorn drove the bull into the same clouds that held the other unicorns, freeing them. The Unicorn revitalized the prince and returned to her forest, forever changed.

She is different from all the other unicorns now, because no unicorn born should ever know what it is to feel love and regret, but she now does. Several centuries passed, and in that time word from the other unicorns became less and less frequent. Worriedly, she set butterflies and birds out to the other forests, hoping to hear back from them. She received no word. Though she was loathe leaving her forest again, she knew that something terrible must have happened, and that she was the only one of her kind who would be able to save the others. Again. Set left her home again, and was shocked to discover how much the outside world had changed since she’d last seen it.

She got very excited when she met a young boy named Taiki, who probably looked completely human to everyone else he’d ever met. The unicorn, however, knew him to be something different. At first, she thought he was a very odd looking unicorn trapped in a human form, but eventually she learned that he was a Kirin, a species distantly related to her own. He was young and lost-looking, but meeting him gave her hope that the others of her kind were still out there. She decided that this time, she would try a new tactic, and made arrangements to take advantage of the new technology now available to her.
