Pretty much just... fucking signed on all of this. I don't make it any secret that I felt the same way as the OP when I first joined, mostly due to ill-timing. But I was able to overcome that by getting involved and actually communicating with my fellow players, and then I started to think, "Hey, this place is pretty warm and fuzzy. I like it here. Why didn't I join sooner?" Because now I really wish I had.
The part about the mods being scary and intimidating I just... can't disagree with the anons more. Maybe it helps that I'm IRL friends with the mods and know that they're all a bunch of derps, but even then, I hear this all the time and I can't bring myself to understand what the problem is. Most of them are unfounded assumptions rather than actual facts. Just because you feel like a mod does such and such, doesn't mean that it's true and you have to tell the whole fucking world about it.
All in all, I'm really just as frustrated as you with people using RP!S to voice their concerns about this, rather than the HMDs we have every
( ... )
Even with you being IRL friends with them, that still leaves me. Who...does not know any of you fuckers in real life and lives clear across the country. I mean maybe it's my sweet and nonabrasive personality but I still have never seen any mod act "intimidating" and why are you letting yourself be intimidated by words on a screen anyway
( ... )
Yeah, I don't get it, either. I think it's an overall vibe that most players get when they join a game, and are just intimidated by the modbase by default. I'm not sure why. I guess it's just the whole... "Oh god I don't want to piss off the people who run the game" kind of thing. So maybe it is just a mod-symptom.
You can't think of one because there really hasn't been an instance where the stuff on RP!S couldn't have been brought to the HMD. I mean, that's what the HMD is for--to bring up those concerns in a more mature, more effective manner. I don't get what it is about RP!S that people feel the need to voice their concerns to the general public, rather than just going to the HMD.
Got to love it when people bring up a problem, yet they can offer no solution. It's really ace.
I think RP!S is more of an emotional gut-reaction sort of thing, where people immediately want to express their frustration in a way that gets either attention or results.
But if it's venting frustration, talk to a friend. Write in a journal, go outside for a while. So many other things to do to get rid of bad feelings than bringing down the whole comm with you.
I used to be incredibly intimidated by the mods (Alba in particular) until I met them. Now it's like "ffffffffff what" whenever I see someone complain about that. Anyone who's ever watched Jolta fawn over a cat could never be intimidated by her ever again.
I can see how people might be dissatisfied with the game. It definitely isn't the same as when it started; that kind of got chucked out the window with Cyrus's death. (And it blows my mind that most of the players here joined after that happened.) And the metaplot has kind of ground to a halt since...well, since Ryune's departure, I think, City of Glass aside. But yeah, players need to put in the effort. It's a two-way street, plotting. If you're unhappy with what's going on now, suggest something that you know you'll like.
Yeah, I'm not saying the game doesn't have its problems, it's not perfect. But I just expect more of players who call it home to work to help make it better instead of going to RP!S to complain about it without offering a solution. RP!S isn't the place where problems get solved.
That's a super rough estimate. Auria counted once and the number came out to around 45-48, and since we have a low drop rate and that count was months ago, it's grown substantially since. One day I'll go back and edit in the appropriate number.
As to "my experience isn't everyone's", we're hearing back via RP!S all the people who are unhappy, and their experience isn't yours, so please! Express yourself. Your opinion's as valid as theirs.
Heh, hey, I'm guilty of reading it too. Read it if you enjoy it by all means, but it's definitely not my favorite place to solve problems or have disagreements.
Well, I have 87 contacts in my AIM Wake list, which omits Siberia and also has a lot of double accounts--Alba, Jolta, Kas, Jean, and you all have more than one name on there. So. Yes. Just clearing that up.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. I don't see why everyone has to use anonymity and RP!S to say whatever is going on in their brains at the moment. I can...probably echo what everyone is saying about that, but I don't think I'll need to. Anyway.
"Just realize it's okay to dislike a fandom and that no one's going to try to convert your feelings, but wishing they weren't there isn't going to make the whole cast sporadically drop. And if the whole KH cast suddenly dropped, I'd feel immensely depressed. Those bastards give good CR."
This is touching. I mean it, I do. Thank you. Believe me, I try to maintain the gist of what I know of KH canon and it still makes no real sense. And I understand the whole thing about the cast dislikes and confusion. As long as everyone is having fun and being open about tagging people in and out of canon connections, right? Yeees.
And I have nothing else of importance to say. I think.
/also tosses the mushy stuff after this is taken in, what is that
Anonymity and RP!S is the path of least resistance. That's basically what it comes down to. It features the less risk with the most potential for drama and is the easiest to do.
You know it's gotten weird when I've stopped disliking KH because of whatever legit reasons I may have had years ago, and instead pretend to hate on it because it's the Allison thing to do. :/ I'm playing a role and everything you know is a lie.
God. Get out with the love.
Oh, that reminds me of another complaint I had that isn't exactly related to this. Why am I a whiteknighter if I side with the mods? WHy am I a circlejerker if I spread genuine love? It's taking good feelings and attaching bad labels to them. RP!S is like high school.
Hohoho, oh you. That's fine. XD NO you get moar lahv and fake!lahv lahvavahva.
But oho yeah. It's that and some people just love stirring up things. It's like they have no excitement in their lives...which is probably true in half of those cases. Being a 'white knight,' 'circle jerk,' or 'what-have-you' is a particular point of view. I honestly don't get it, but it's something you can't really keep away from. If you defend friends, that's what you do. Who wouldn't? And if you know people better than others, then you hang with them. It doesn't make anyone better or worse.
What I've come to realize is that no matter what is said online, good or bad, there will be some kind of hatin' going on. Especially within RP matters. Some people tend to hold grudges even if they seem to hold to a certain level of maturity. Sadly, I've seen friendships ruined this way without some kind of resolve to keep things neutral.
Aye. Though I'd like to think that no one in the Wake would stir up drama for the sake of drama, but it's still a possibility, albeit an unlikely one, and thinking too much about it incurs paranoid thinking.

This probably didn't make a lot of sense lol.
