I notice so many people now asking for recommendations. Mostly out of boredom, and because I like lists, I composed a list of novels I would recommend to just about anyone.



Books:

As Meat Loves Salt by Maria McCann.
Genre: Historical Fiction
Summary: After Jacob Cullen is forced to flee the estate that he lives on, he is found and taken into the army by a young man named Ferris.

The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson.
Genre: Drama/Romance
Summary: Nina, Avery, and Mel have been best friends since they were little kids. When Nina goes to attend a ten week program at Standford, she meets the perfect guy. Too bad she has to wait an entire year to see him again. While she's away, Mel gets her first kiss. With Avery.

Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause.
Genre: Fantasy
Summary: After falling in love with a human, werewolf Vivian will have to choose between the attraction she feels for him and loyalty to her pack.

Carrie by Stephen King.
Genre: Horror
Summary: Unpopular Carrie has been bullied by her classmates and her fanatically religious mother. What they don't know is that she was born with special telekinetic powers, which she uses to take her revenge on prom night.

The Cement Garden by Ian McEwan.
Genre: Drama
Summary: After their parents pass away, four children are left to look after themselves.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas.
Genre: Action/Adventure/Historical
Summary: Young, naive Edmond Dantes is framed for a crime he didn't commit. He is sentenced to spend the remainder of his life in prison, but the help of the eccentric Abbe Faria, he manages to make his escape and take his revenge.

Cut by Patricia McCormick.
Genre: Drama
Summary: Callie is a cutter, and because of this she is admitted as patient to the residential treatment facility, Sea Pines. During her stay, Callie refuses to speak to her therapists, the other patients, or even her family but she learns that she'll slowly have to open up to get better.

Drawing Blood by Poppy Z. Brite.
Genre: Horror
Summary: When he was younger, Trevor's fathered murdered his family and then committed suicide. As Trevor returns to the house where it happened, he is joined by computer hacker Zack, who is on the run from the law. Together they embark on the mystrey of why Trevor was spared all those years ago.

Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite.
Genre: Horror
Summary: In Louisianna's famous French Quarter, two cannibalistic serial killers mark their perfect victim, a young Vietnamese drug dealer named Tran.

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk.
Genre: Action
Summary: One night, two friends found the fight club, and as more people become interested, the truth of human nature - as well as sanity - becomes unraveled.

Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews.
Genre: Horror
Summary: Four children are locked away from the world by their selfish mother. In the attic, where they reside for years, they are punished for the sins of their parents.

The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling.
Genre: Fantasy
Summary: I'm sure that these books need no explanation.

Impulse by Ellen Hopkins.
Genre: Drama
Summary: Impulse is written entirely in verse format. It is the story of three teenagers landed in a mental health care facility for attempting suicide.

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.
Genre: Romance
Summary: The story of Humbert Humbert and his forbidden love for the twelve year old Lolita.

Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite.
Genre: Horror
Summary: After Jason - whose real name is Nothing - discovers the true secret of his birth, he takes off with a group of vampires to meet his favorite band.

Out by Natsuo Kirino.
Genre: Horror/Crime
Summary: Four women work the night shift together at a boxed lunch factory in modern Japan. One of the women, being mistreated by her husband, kills him in a fit of rage one night and turns to the others for help.

The Mist by Stephen King.
Genre: Horror
Summary: After a storm knocks out the power, David Drayton and his son are trapped in a supermarket by a mist that has engulfed their small town.

Salem's Lot by Stephen King.
Genre: Horror
Summary: A small town is taken under siege by vampires.

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
Genre: Drama
Summary: Melinda's freshman year of high school begins very poorly. All of her old friend's abandoned her after she called the cops on a summer party and she is alienated. This is a high school story told with Melinda's humorously cynical voice, as she struggles with painful memories and her own unwillingness to speak.

The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Euginides.
Genre: Drama
Summary: After the death of their youngest Cecilia, four girls take their turns at suicide in one shocking year that becomes known as the year of the suicides.
