There may be a flaw in your premise because not everybody fills any particular niche. But maybe you could give some examples and elaborate on what you mean.
Well, basically (this really doesn't have to do with M3, it's a pattern I've noticed for anything) I feel like I'm just another face in the crowd. While that is not bad by any sort of means, I just feel like I'm nothing particulary special.
Sorta like a curse of being a jack-of-all trades. And if I must compare to M3, it's not me as a character, but me as a player. If you know what I mean. I feel like I'm just another player and other people have the 'special tags'. Maybe I have the tag for a whiner and I don't know about it. Who knows?
I dunno of any particular niches. Maybe I'm just crazy and not being very specific.
Perception. Everyone thinks they aren't filling a special niche themselves (unless they're an egomaniac) but maybe other people think they are the bomb diggity.
I personally am a huge fan of Jet Stingray because he has consistently played his character to the top of the game for so long, for instance, but he probably longs to be one of those Fachead dudes or something.

This wasn't a post about M3 specifically, again. But, your comment is still appreciated.
