That seemed like the monster had lost every sense of direction...Spinning in circles as if it didn't know right from left, and could only think to go in one direction, and didn't have the concept of turing the other way ( Read more... )

If its eyes are located on opposite sides of its head, an injury to one from the explosion could blind it on one side entirely. In panic, would it not seem logical to go in the direction one could see?

True. I've only seen one of the monsters up close and personal, and I wasn't really in the state of mind to see the placement of the eyes. Makes me wonder about the monster's mindset just a bit...

Yes, spinning like a top. Both on land, and in the water, before it went under and didn't come back up...

Yeah. Although like the gentleman above mentioned, the monster could have panicked and that was the reaction...but how it survived it, I don't know.
