Father John, I'm happy to hear from you :) Each year when you talk about General Chapter, I can tell that you enjoy it very much.

This summer has been very hard here. We've not had a measurable rain since early June. The corn and soybeans are lost. The river from which we get drinking water is very low.

I have been staying indoors due to my breathing problems. The humidity is much to high to go outdoors for more than 5 minutes.

The oxygen is a blessing -- we are fortunate to have it. I sleep much better with it.

Charles copyrighted his first classical composition and the Alton Symphony Orchestra played it. It is called YOUR MEMORY WILL LIVE ON. Carey said he would like to write lyrics to it :) Charles is also playing for the Municipal Orchestra 2 nights a week and sometimes Sunday. He was still 16 when he was signed to a contract.

And me ... I live indoors with the drapes pulled to block out the intense sun. I live like a bat in a cave -- but no, I do not hang upside down :)

You remain in my prayers, Father.

Any hot and muggy day - not as much as last week, but still a challenge. This chapter is something extraordinary - different from the one I mention that we have twice a year for our community. This is an assembly of the whole Order - so superiors and chosen delegates from each of the independent monasteries. But that is what makes it exciting.

Chsrles is obviously talented and has a great future in music, God willing. Enjoy your pride in him.

And hang in with the weather - autumn will come with milder temps. It is my favorite season.
