Alex Cabot has returned and the crappy ending was well-obscured by how smoking hot she was tonight.
First scene: The look on Finn's face was my favourite, followed closely by Olivia's breathless, "Alex!" last seen making femmeslash fans melt in season six's Ghost.
Second scene: Things are realistically awkward as the Holy Trinity of Lust (tm TWoP boards) falls back into their groove but then realizes how weird that is before promptly resuming said groove. Alex's smile falters visibly as she is closed out of an Elliot/Olivia walk-off.
Third scene: Three years?! Now the awkwardness makes sense! Oh, Alex. I hope the hurt-comfort writers are prepped and ready to go because damn, that's far too long. And "just a temp" is completely redundant, Mr. Wolf. You can feel safe as you re-crate Elisabot 2.0.
Fourth scene: Alex is in court, Petrovski's on the bench, God's in his heaven, and all's right with the world.
Fifth scene: Continuity! Yes! Alex's old constitutional law professor is her first trial judge and still her mentor. Aw!
Sixth scene: How hot is SMarch's neck as she checks on Huang, post trauma? Diligent scans for hickeys reveal nothing as of yet but we're not in a soulful and smutty fanfic coda. Also? Mrs. Linwood is totally wearing the Necklace, last spotted around Alex and Olivia's necks in S4-5.
The rest: The ridiculously convuluted lead toy/crooked CEO contrivance dimmed the Hot, but it was still clearly visible. The "I'll have your ass" vs. "I already have yours." made me mist up in my pants with pride. Olivia looks appraisingly at Alex as she pronounces her approval before leaving in lock-step with Elliot, causing another smile to falter. Won't somebody think of the Smile?
Sadly, the Canadian-American switchover cancelled out the previews for next week but really, unless they involve lines like "Why were you and Alex making out just now?" or "Only you and Alex making out will force a confession from this guy." are involved, I can wait.
