Thirteenth Abduction [Voice] all of my excuses turn to lies.

[This song can barely be heard playing in the background]So yesterday was...odd to say the least. Most of the time it never occurs to me that in the City there are time periods considered my future. It helps that out of the three people I spend the most time with two of them are from the late seventies. Yesterday I realized there's an entire ( Read more... )

What kind of thing is "twitter"?

Sounds something retarded that damn cat would enjoy.

I don't know really. It's from after my time but there was a curse here yesterday. You had to say everything you wanted in 140 characters?

That's kind of difficult, especially when you have to give a proper SitRep.

Precisely but I think it's more social networking than work.

Don't worry, you're really not missing out on too much.

Yeah? What year are you from, Sam?

2010. So I'm pretty up much to date with the City. I'm guessing you're not too far behind, either early 2006 or 2005? Somewhere around there?

2005 so no, not far behind. That's why most of the time it never occurs to me that the world has moved on past me. It makes me wonder if something happens at home that I don't remember.

Most of the City is my future. I am from 1962.

Does it make you feel misplaced? Like everything went on with you?

In a way...but it is more mysterious than regrettable. As a medium, I am accustomed to seeing souls depart from the mortal timeline, and be left behind -- it is inevitable. It is only strange, so many inventions that exist today.

I think that's what's throwing me. Not the time passing so much as the changes.

If Twitter is a strange technological phenomenon to you, you would see 2114 as a different world. Cybernetic modifications are common, and most humans access the global network by mind alone, or the aid of a brain-controlled cyberdeck. We had a permanent space settlement, and I myself was once am the first and most powerful artificial intelligence created there.

...And we have flying cars, which I suppose intrigues most past-humans.

It's 110 years past my time. I imagine I would see it as a different world. For some reason the very far future is easier to comprehend than the near future that I don't remember.

You know, I've never asked what year you're from.

2005.

You know that's one of the reasons I've never really felt out of place time wise. You and I don't talk about the details of things like that. We tend to talk about the people or the things we used to do.

Yeah, I'm not that awesome at getting all share time about myself and neither are you. I think we both get that about each other.

You're right. Neither one of us are terribly invasive. It...is nice.
