Whereas I know that keswindhover would offer me excellent working conditions if I were to become her PA, I do have to consider other options too ( Read more... )

Seriously, I can't tell you what to do because it's such a personal decision. But if you do take the job involving travel, does it mean you can't ever move back into a position with more focus on education?

No, I'm sure it wouldn't and that I could transfer to another job in a year or two. I'd really love the travelling, I'm going on a 'taster' trip - only to London - in a month or so time to try it out, but the application has to be completed and handed in by January 30th so that doesn't help much!

Actually, if I were you I'd apply for all of them and see what I got and then decide. Why burn any bridges?

I've filed my application for the job in the examinations department and it's quite possible I won't even get an interview for it of course. As someone who does a lot of interviewing, alarm bells ring when someone seems to be too desperate and appears to just apply for anything that is going. It's like they're not focussed on something in particular and really my heart is in education and not finance and fees etc. Perhaps I'll talk to them a bit more this week, see if there's anything else coming up that would be better for me.

Sorry, yes. PA = personal assistant. The job I'm doing currently is a really interesting one. I get to sit on all the best committees as an administrator, taking notes, booking further meetings, providing whatever needs to be provided, but I'm in there and am hearing what's going on. I wish that this job was up for grabs as a full-time position, sadly it's only going to be part-time on a job share basis and that's not enough salary for me.

Well, travelling is cool, but I wouldn't want to do it regularly cause it's knackering. However if you ever came to Hong Kong you would have a tour guide friendly person who would meet you at the airport and drag you to Discovery Bay..

And now I will psychoanalyse you nice and neatly (that's a novelty). (Freud's accent please) I vould say that you vant to to the job that you have already applied for and that is why you have put in that entry that it is your heart's desire.

On the other hand the other three options look good too!!

Hong Kong is on my list of places to visit!

You know I don't think I actually want to do either of them. What I really want to do is the job that I'm doing in a temporary capacity, but it's not available with enough hours permanently to enable me to do it. Because there is an awful lot of work they are splitting it into two x three day job shares, and three days just doesn't pay enough money to make it worth applying for. If somehow it could be made five days, I'd not hesitate.

Why can't I win the lottery?!

Hmmph. I bet no one else is offering you a chauffeur's cap.

The dress code certainly doesn't include fluffy knickers either!

Could I drive my new baby around in my chauffeur's cap? This might be a deciding factor!

Leather knickers lined with fur, I believe was your demand.

And I didn't know you were having another baby. Congratulations! *snickers*
