However,I've noticed that people post asking for reliable local builders and so on.  Roger and I are quite keen to have some plumber recommendations and it would be good if people could comment if they have a reliable plumber.

Thank you for passing on the recommendation! We have used Kelvin J Webb for a boiler service and for two minor plumbing repairs after several friends recommended them, and we wouldn't hesitate to do the same. I think they're a fairly large, though local, business. They've always been very organised, prompt and professional. Although I can't compare them with plumbing and heating people as they're the only ones we've used, their prices seem very reasonable to us.

Woe! Had you asked a few months ago, I'd have wholeheartedly recommended Kelvin J. Webb. Alas, the company's gone into liquidation. It might be possible to track down the constituent plumbers somehow, though.

Fortunately, I don't need any more plumbing work done right now, but I'll be interested to see if you get any recommendations. Personally, I have trouble getting plumbers even to return my calls. )-8

On further investigation, Kelvin J. Webb has, indeed, gone into liquidation.

However, there is now a remarkably similar company called "K. J. Webb" which, I hope, will be replacing my wash basin sometime soon. (-8

I'd recommend the Plumbing Birds (http://www.plumbingbirds.co.uk/home) - they replaced and relocated some radiators for us: they didn't charge anything more than their initial quote despite realising the job was more complicated than they originally thought and would need an extra day's work!
