[Video] ⌘ Hollo-what?

Nov 01, 2010 11:06

... It would seem all of us have been unable to recall some key things that happened to us here and in our own worlds. I'm assuming that everyone is back to their normal selves? I recovered my memories when I went to sleep. Sis wasn't affected by this, though, so she helped me out earlier, or I probably would have been very lost.

The festivities mirrored a festival commonly celebrated where I'm from. It involves decorations as the like of a rather frightening nature.

[ He pauses a moment. ]

Though that's quite an observation. It seems that the entire town is sentient during the curses. The curses themselves seem to defy the very laws of nature.

Eh, Carl's staying on video here, so video forever. /o/ cantataofgrace November 1 2010, 15:50:41 UTC
Oh, I see! Would you mind telling me about the festival? I find the differences in holidays and celebrations to be very fascinating between our worlds; the differences could be minute but also endless, not to mention you never know why the holiday came about! It could have an amazing story behind it.

[ EEEE, LEARNING *A* He gets excited with the possibility of it. ]

But it does seem as though the city itself has some sort of set parameter. I'm not entirely sure what would make it run... it's more likely that the decorative aspects were an illusion, possibly armagus...

Kaaaaaaay~ XD;; doc just doesn't like people seeing him bandaged. xblood_lusting November 1 2010, 16:09:55 UTC
[ Quite the eager learner. The doc approves. ]

They call it Halloween where I'm from. It was once referred to as All Hallow's Eve, a night where the veil between this world and the world of the specters was thin. Due to this, evil spirits were said to roam the land. To scare them away, people used to dress in costume.
Of course, this legend is barely remembered now and the festival has... died down, in a way. Now, children dress in costume and go about from house to house asking for candy.

[ Another short pause. ]

Armagus? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the term. Though it's quite curious that such things affected by the curse appear and disappear without a trace... and so quickly.

Psssh, it's fine. Carl probably wouldn't even care. cantataofgrace November 1 2010, 16:22:22 UTC
Ah, that makes sense. Oftentimes old rituals devolve into common occurrences because the legend and the reason behind them is lost as common sense and furthering technology make way for the realization that such things don't exist to be afraid of, or that there's proof to the contrary of the methods used. It sounds highly spiritual in nature, however... I would have liked to have seen the traditional event. It's quite a shame it's devolved into something like this.

[ A pause. ]

O-oh, my apologies. Sometimes we forget that the methods of what people refer to as 'magic' are different in others worlds... haha. Yeah, that's right, Sis, I suppose it's still the same basic principal, though.

[ There's no reply, but he nods to someone off-screen as though he's heard them say something. ] ... It's probable the disappearance is because the items may not have existed in the first place. If it were an elaborate illusion, anyway. That's the best explanation.

Hi, Carl-san. I guess you don't have Halloween where you come from?

And yeah, everything's back to normal for me. Are you okay?

I can't say I've ever participated in something like it. I might have read about it once, though.

[ That's a sort-of no? His family sucked, Touka. ]

... I'm alright, I guess. Sis was unaffected, so she helped me.

[ He seems a bit off-kilter, though, even for himself. ] Although I'm worried about a few things that aren't really adding up...

[Awwwwwww poor Carl-chan. If only they had had a normal Halloween, she would have taken him trick-or-treating.]

What's going on? What's wrong?

... Everyone's disappearing.

I...I was wondering that as well...Can it put false memories in your head? How do we know if all of the memories that it gave us, really are our memories.

[ He looks a little worried. ]

I'd certainly hope they don't. It's highly infuriating that they would even consider changing something and treating it with such a whimsical attitude! Especially for a simple holiday that has no rhyme or reason.

[ Now he's actually kind of mad, when he considers it. ] It would be like randomly plucking the strings of a violin and breaking one only to replace it with one of the wrong size simply because the ambiance in a room wasn't right.

[So does she]

I don't either. Exactly! I mean to play with someone's memories as though they are toys...its just...its just evil!

[So is she and not to mention disappointed.] We..don't know if that's what they did but I...just wish I knew.

In other words, it's typical fair for adults as usual.

[ Sigh. ]

... I really want to make these guys realize this kind of thing isn't right. They wouldn't go around doing that if it happened to THEM, after all.

[ Nodoka flicks on the video and smiles softly at him. Once again she was so thankful that she hadn't forgotten; she didn't know what would happen if she had forgotten about Carl. The thought of forgetting Crowley was bad enough, but this boy was special to her too. She shakes her head, trying not to look as upset and nervous about the situation as she really is. ]

No! I... I-I didn't really forget anything. What about you? Are you feeling well?
