Around the barn, I do a lot of grooming and braiding and such, helping people get ready for shows. So I get a little bit of extra cash to pay for my own shows entry fees, etc. However, this time one of my riding friends, who spends a lot of time travelling as part of her job, offered to sell me her British pounds and I said yes, because hey, the price was right, and no fees!
So I got my grubby little hands on some British cash, including a few one pound coins. They are totally cool notes, with shiny reflective parts and colors. The obnoxious part of me thinks they are a bit surreal, and a littel voice in the back of my head says, "I'd like to buy a house for Marvin Gardens, please." US dollars are mostly all one color although the designs have changed recently. A little bit of coloring has been added, but not much. American cash is still pretty meh (although I like it just the same - hee!).
So if I had £20 and wanted to break it, what would I say? If had a $20, I'd say, "I'd like ten, five, and five single, please." Do I understand correctly there are no paper notes for £1, just the coins?
