Yep, there is ten, five and £2 coins and £1 coins. The £2 coins are larger and two ringed, and the 1£ coins are smaller and gold, and then the shrapnel. No, there are no 1 or 2 pound notes. The coins come in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50p amounts.

We had the same thing happen here years ago, our 1 and 2 dollar notes were replaced with coins, it's so much easier than notes. I have to say US dollars I find really confusing, the fact that they seem the same colour to me etc... but if you ever saw OUR dollars, you would fall over. They are really colourful and plastic! I'll have to take a photo when I have the full range of notes!

It's kind of six of one, half dozen of the other. The British Pound notes all have them same picture, but I've been told different denominations are different sizes. American cash is all the same size, but the pictures are different.

I think money is fascinating - not money as an abstract thing, but the art of notes and coins and such.

No, they don't all have the same picture on them. I mean they do on one side, but not the other. I definitely don't have problems with the UK currency, but do with the US, and both of them are foreign to me, so I am guessing you definitely won't have issues with it. Ours are even more different, since they are really starkly different colours and none of the people or images are the same, it looks like monopoly money, only prettier and more ridiculous! Here is a picture of it:

It depends where you change it. We usually say "have you got change for...?" if asking someone, or in the bank they usually ask you how you want the money. Be warned - most wall cash machines these days don't give out anything smaller than a tenner and depending on how much you're taking out, sometimes you'll get £20s.

Around these parts the machines only give 20s. It probably changes as you move around the country. Get it? Changes? Changes?. Bwahaha. Oh my God, somebody stop me... Hee.
