Here's some convoluted thoughts I've been having lately about Donna and Catherine Tate and The Doctor and David Tennant.
First you must know I am of the theory (well, a fanwank anyway, if not a real theory) that DT played Ten as having a bit of an unintended/unrequited thing for Donna.
caz963 calls it smitten and I agree. Whether or not he intended it, that's what I saw - and I was looking from some 3500 miles away. I didn't even have to squint. Furthermore, I even wondered about it before I got all into DT and CT and D/D shipping and fanfic and fandoms and fangurling and fanwanking and all the rest of it.
In the DW Confidential for Unicorn and the Wasp, DT mentions how RTD always seems to put these 'obligatory' kisses into the scripts and although they are completely one thing and aren't meant as 'real' kisses, it's always fun to wonder about how you're suppose to interpret the kiss. Those are not his exact words, but I think that's the gist of what he was saying. Of course the kisses are innocent, but maybe not, but no, are they really just kisses to save lives or pass on genetic material or because of possession, etc.,? (By the way, if he was just intending to leave a bit of genetic material on Martha, why didn't he just kiss her hand or her cheek?)
So, where was I? Oh yeah, so here we are with Donna, who is completely not interested in the Doctor as a romantic partner, and the Doctor
who I fanwank had a bit of an unrequited crush on Donna. I mean, really - look:
You tell 'em, girl. You even got me standing at attention.
OK, I know, I know. He's just telling her she's brilliant, but he's sure sweet talking her through this, isn't he?
This picture gets a lot of attention, but I think the next screencap is even sexier.
In the dictionary, the definition for bedroom eyes should have this illustration. Just a teensy bit more of a predatory gleam in the eye. What a tart. About as subtle as slamming your hand in a car door, but waaaay more pleasant. "Hey, how about we go back to the TARDIS and burn up a star?":
My Donna's sooo made of awesome.:
And really, need I say more? :
Bernard Cribbins/Wilf is so awesome. I think Wilf shipped Ten/Donna, too. Good ol' Donna. She was better with you.
It's fun scrolling through screen caps to prove my point!
What was my point? Oh yeah, this: Even with mountains of DT/CT chemical win, CT plays Donna straight ahead never lets her notice the looks and stuff the Doctor's giving her. Donna is clueless about (unrequited) Ten. I can believe there were never any secksytiems in the TARDIS.
In interviews for MAAN, CT has said people who are expecting to see a Doctor-and-Donna kind of relationship are going to be sorely disappointed because there was never any romantic inclinations between the Doctor and Donna.
Bwah! Has CT ever really watched the show she was in? She never saw what DT was doing? Proof that life imitates art (CT is as clueless about Ten as Donna was), or that we really only see what we want to see.
And that is my post for today. I'm going to gaze at the screencaps for a bit more, then finish cleaning the bathroom.
