We're having an adventure with brakes. As in, my car doesn't have them. I discovered this last night driving home. I'm braking for a stoplight, and I realize the pedal is all the way to the floor, and the brakes are gripping but not very strongly, and while the car is in fact slowing to a stop it's taking a very long time to come to a complete stop ( Read more... )

Wheee! Car is back, brakes work, and it wasn't expensive at all. Just a six-inch part of the hose that needed replacing. The battery seems to just have been run down somehow. The tow truck driver must have put the keys in and turned it down all the way, which turns on the radio, lights, wipers, heater, etc. I'm surprised that killed it in the time it took to tow it, but the mechanic recharged it, and the car has been starting fine for them.

I found your journal because you went to Burr Farms Elementary School. The three other people listed as former Burr Farms students are my best friend, my sister and me (we're all a bit older than you are). I thought I'd check out your journal.

Don't forget that when your break pedal fails, the emergency brake will still work. Just hold the button in and use it like a hand brake. You might want to practice in an empty parking lot at low speeds to get comfortable with it. I sometimes use the emergency brake to stop just to stay in practice.
