Were the purple things anything like what this site calls an 'overlay'?

I'm not sure most people know the name for the various bits & pieces of religious robes. They seem to have different names depending on the purpose for wearing them.

Your town is just achingly adorable alright. Once when I was early, I did the downtown walk. Cute, cute, cute. How lucky you are to have such a nice place to go walking.

As it gets hotter, could you wedge your walk in before work?

Very sorry you've had a come to Jesus moment with your health. Kudos that you are making lifestyle changes rather than just taking the consequences. I'm living proof that lifestyle changes CAN make a big difference. And really, it's just a matter of getting into new habits. I find I'm just as irrationally attached to my new habits, as I ever was to my old habits.

In Oklahoma a large black snake would be a king snake-- whose considered one of the "good" snakes. They eat vermin and other snakes. They're kind of territorial, so if you've got one around, then you don't have any other snakes. (Although they are kind of frighteningly large sometimes.)
