Gym: Afternoon

After last night's enjoyable but uneventful patrol, Mel has a lot of excess energy to burn and she's taking that out on the old punching bag which has clearly seen better days in her opinion.

Any interruptions to her work out would probably be appreciated. At least by the punching bag.

Aeryn had come to the gym with the intent on working at the punching bag. When she sees it's occupied, she starts towards the machines instead, but just watches Mel for a little bit.

Mel continues to beat on the punching bag and catches a glimpse of Aeryn from the corner of her eye. She gives her a wave of greeting before returning to punch more at the bag.

"Bad day, or just bored?" she asks, still watching.

[cantjossme]

"Bored," Mel said finally working up a sweat. "No lurks around here so I've been getting a little restless."

Aeryn frowns, asking, "Lurks?"

"Vampires," Mel said mentally kicking herself. "I keep forgetting you call them that here."

[can_be_more]

"Ah," she says. "They cleared out some time ago, as far as I know. If there are any still around, they've been quiet."

[cantjossme]

"I heard that you were involved in that whole cleaning out thing," Mel said stopping the punching of the bag. "Is that true?"

She nods. "They started attacking people in town. A friend ended up in the clinic and no one was doing anything about it," she explains. "Someone had to."

"How did you do it?" Mel asked. "Hand to hand combat? Blasting them?"

[can_be_more]

"Some of both. Pulse weapons didn't work on them, so it came down to a lot of hand to hand. Stakes were most effective. One of the people on my team had a lightsaber- a sort of sword- but there was only one of those."

[cantjossme]

"So I take it you're pretty good at fighting then," Mel said cautiously.

[can_be_more]

"I was bred military," Aeryn answers. "Been training as long as I can remember."

[cantjossme]

Mel bit her lip and gave the bag a half-hearted punch. "Ever train anyone?"

"Several people." She tilts her head a little. "Are you asking?"

[cantjossme]

"Maybe," Mel said with a little swagger. "I'm not half bad. Just could use a few pointers."
