oh my gosh so can i just say that yesterday was absolutely CRAZY?? nothing crazy as in unusual/bizarre, but busy-crazy, as well as fun-crazy.
i woke up at 8am, contemplated on skipping class to attend the digital summit that was being held on campus all day yesterday. i really wanted to take full advantage of that conference, seeing as how it was free for belmont students and anyone else would have to pay $180 to go to it. well, needless to say, i did not go to any of the events, because i really tried hard to finish my paper that is due today. well did i? no. i only have 1 more page though. i've got 4 hours...
alright, so at 3ish i headed out to wind ensemble, and i had to leave that early so i could chow something down and get to work by 5. while i was in the cafeteria getting my vegetables (that's pretty much all i eat now, along with carbs and dairy), this guy next to me asked me how my easter was. i was pretty sure i had never seen him before in my life. but usually if i have met someone only once, i won't remember them ever again because i can't remember what people's faces look like. seriously- i could have this long, deep conversation with you, but unless you're like unforgettable or something i won't remember what you look like an hour later. i know, that sounds crazy, but it's ok it's not like i've never contemplated if i really am crazy or not. ANYWAY, at first i didn't think he was talking to me, but there was NOBODY around, so i gave him a quizzical look and replied and asked him the same question. i sort of smiled and nodded, not really sure of what to do, and went to an empty table to scarf my food down. well, he comes over and asks me if he can sit with me. at this point, i'm like, oh shit, i'm supposed to know him. we probably met in the beginning of the semester or something. after racking my brain of possibilities, i finally just decided i would make an ass out of myself and asked him if we had met. well, he just says, "i don't know, maybe". what's that supposed to mean?! haha, alright, so we introduce ourselves and start talking some more, and he randomly asks me if i'm catholic and i say no, so then we start talking about greek orthodox priests and church denominations. it seriously MUST go down as the most random conversation in the history of all the universe. can you think of anything else more random? yeah, that's what i thought.
so after that strange li'l rendezvous, i had to go to work. it was the rock ensemble and phoenix. phoenix is like this crazy-cool ensemble that has a full band and 10 amazing singers who cover top 40 stuff. it's pure entertainment, and amazing. anyway, i had to work the spotlight, and i was the ONLY spot op for the show; there were supposed to be two. yeah, and it's pretty spot-heavy, with tons of solos and all that jazz. and the show is about 3 hours long, with a 15min. intermission. and i was the only spot op. ok, so if you haven't figured out that i was completely exhausted from that show by now, then you're dumb.
after the show was over, i had to help tear down the set of course, but i knew i had to finish my paper by this morning (ha), so i helped out for about half an hour then was allowed to leave a bit early. i get to the lobby, and amy and dacia and about 7 other people are down there with ben and jerry's ice cream, because they were celebrating amy's birthday. i decided to stick around for ice cream but was going to leave afterwards to go upstairs and work on my paper. i swear. WELL, they took out the game apples to apples. i had played once before at a family get-together, and figured i'd go for a few rounds. bad decision. we started playing at around 1030, and went 'til 145am or so. people came and went; we had up to 10 players at one point, with others on the outside watching. man that game is hilarious. during the duration of the game i met a guy named sam who's an environmentalist and doesn't like cops.
so now i have to write one more page for this paper. i'm not going to work NOR am i getting my excel test out of the way because of that damn game. after this paper, i go to class then work then the studio. tomorrow i will have a BREAK between 11 and 3, then it's craziness until 10. and on FRIDAY erica will be here! and we are gonna see my morning jacket and ben lee and cary brothers and gov't mule and ben folds and a whole bunch of other bands but those are the only ones i care about.
ok i'm done now. i promise.
