To be honest, I much prefer the models myself. That was what I liked about the original Star Wars, the ships looked like actual ships if that makes sense. The one that were digital, while it was great that it gave free reign to the imagination and was maybe a bit easier, I don't know, I'm neither a digital effects person or a model maker - yet! - but they had a different look about them and I didn't believe in them as much as I did the model ones.
Which I grant you, sounds a bit wacky and George Lucas would probably roll his eyes at me. But then I'd never notice because I'd be too busy rolling my eyes at him. Great snippet though.
I completely understand! When I watch the original 3, those parts still hold up for me. The model work they did for the ships was excellent, including the flights (obviously the green screen ship interior stuff not so good, but then it's still not great).
Yeah. He'd roll his eyes at me, but I'm totally with Alex Funke - miniatures (and bigatures) can be so much more effective in shots.
