It difficult to believe what I was looking down on was volcano crater. That was one big volcano, missy. When explode bit like CCL after hot Indian curry me reckon!!!!
I see Manservant allowed you to sit inside the vehicle this time, Bogdan! Finally!
Lovely photos! Nice! Good thing the Volcano didn't pop it's top while you were standing on it!
Friends have given me mixed reviews re: Hawai'i. All agree that the lanscape is beautiful. One friend bitched and moaned about the food. Another acquaintance moved there. Go figure. I have heard that it's hideously expensive (however, they have a Classics Department at the U.Hawai'i -I may need to look into that! lol.) I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts about our island-y state! Don't drop Bogdan in Mauna Loa!
I was lucky enough to see Christchurch pre quake and although I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked, what I did see was beautiful. They're doing a great job of rebuilding, and the empty chairs are indeed poignant. The Re:Start Mall is a great idea, isn't it?
If you want to see how active the area was during the big quakes and is even now, here's a link to a very interesting site if you haven't already found it:
It shows seismic activity on a map and you can choose when and over what time frame you want to see events. It really brings home how active the area is.
It also has links to quake maps for Turkey and Japan.
CCL may like to pass the link on to his students - my son and his teachers appreciated it when I found it not long after the big quakes.
Sorry for the multiple edits - runny brain syndrome.
Great site link DL. Will certainly be using that. Containers are used for so much around the city at the moment, including as a break for rockfalls alongside roads. The Red Zone was due to be fully re-opened this week, though of course with a lot of demolition still to do.
